AeroClean T-M400C Performs Aerial Insulator Cleaning on High-Voltage Transmission Towers

Safe, Continuous, and Efficient Operations with AeroClean T-M400C

Cleaning high-voltage transmission tower insulators has always been a high-risk, labor-intensive task. Traditional methods rely on manual crews, shutdowns, or complex lifting equipment, increasing safety risks and operational costs. The AeroClean T-M400C dual tethered cleaning system, designed specifically for the DJI Matrice 400, offers a smarter and safer solution for live-line insulator cleaning at height.

Designed for Continuous High-Altitude Operations

The AeroClean T-M400C integrates dual tethering for power and water supply, enabling up to 4 hours of uninterrupted aerial cleaning. Unlike battery-powered drones limited to short flight times, the T-M400C supports long-duration missions without frequent landings, making it ideal for large-scale transmission tower maintenance.

Before operation, the ground tether station is securely grounded at 1.2–2 meters, ensuring stable power delivery and safe operation in high-voltage environments.

Precision Cleaning Around High-Voltage Infrastructure

Equipped with the DJI Matrice 400 circular-scan LiDAR, the system can accurately detect centimeter-level high-voltage cables, allowing the drone to maintain safe distances and perform timely obstacle avoidance. This advanced sensing capability is critical when operating around dense conductors and complex tower structures, significantly reducing collision risks.

Powerful Yet Controlled High-Pressure Cleaning

The T-M400C delivers 110–160 bar high-pressure washing, effectively removing dust, salt deposits, and surface contaminants from insulators. The aerospace-grade 1.2 kg aluminum spray gun and optimized nozzle design ensure precise targeting, minimizing water waste while maximizing cleaning efficiency.

For electrical safety, insulator cleaning operations use non-conductive pure water, preventing current leakage and ensuring compliance with live-line maintenance requirements.

Reliable Performance at Height

With a maximum cleaning height of 60 meters, the AeroClean T-M400C is well-suited for most transmission tower structures. Its airborne 3 kW power unit maintains voltage stability within ±1%, while IP55/65 protection ensures reliable operation in challenging outdoor conditions.

Even in the unlikely event of tethered power interruption, the DJI Matrice 400 can continue flying on internal power and land safely, providing an additional layer of operational security.

A Smarter Approach to Transmission Tower Maintenance

By combining continuous tethered power, high-pressure cleaning performance, and advanced obstacle sensing, the AeroClean T-M400C transforms how insulator cleaning is performed on high-voltage transmission towers. It reduces reliance on manual labor, eliminates the need for scaffolding or shutdowns, and significantly improves safety and efficiency.

For power utilities, grid maintenance contractors, and industrial service providers, the AeroClean T-M400C represents a reliable, high-performance aerial solution for modern transmission infrastructure cleaning—keeping power flowing while keeping workers out of harm’s way.
