Nighttime drone operations often involve more than simply seeing whether an object is present. Public-safety teams may need to distinguish a person from the surrounding terrain, utility inspectors may need to recognize structural details, and emergency responders may need to understand roads, vehicles, and access routes without waiting for daylight.
Conventional low-light footage can become dark, noisy, blurred, or lacking in useful color information. Flying closer to the target may improve visibility, but it can also reduce the operator’s stand-off distance and make the mission more difficult around buildings, power infrastructure, forests, ports, or emergency scenes.
